About Dr. Cormier
Dr. Jason Cormier, M.D., is a neurosurgeon practicing in Lafayette, Louisiana. A native of Lafayette, Louisiana, he graduated from St Thomas Moore High School and would later matriculate to Louisiana State University to play collegiate basketball under Coach Dale Brown. Dr. Cormier would eventually focus his studies on becoming a physician. He attended Louisiana State University Medical School in New Orleans and later matched at Duke University for his internship in Neurosurgery. Dr. Cormier completed his neurosurgery training and residency at University of Alabama – Birmingham. After the completion of his residency, he would return home to begin his neurosurgical practice at Acadiana Neurosurgery. After receiving his board certification in Neurosurgery, Dr. Cormier became heavily involved in Traumatic Brain Injury and concussions. He has worked with organizations like After the Impact Fund, various Rodeo organizations, ARCA/NASCAR, the Jockey’s Guild, NHRA, NCAA Football, NFL, motorcycle racing, The International Council of Motorsports Sciences, the military, and more through Motorsports Safety Group, which he is the founder and CEO of, in addition to the Motorsports Brain and Spine Foundation. He is currently a consultant to the FDA, sits on the board of directors for ThinkFirst National Injury Prevention Foundation, Consults for and is on the Medical Advisory board for both Q30innovations (Q-COLLAR) and Brain Armor, Inc (A Trident Brand). In addition to holding faculty positions at academic institutions in addition to several Spinal Instrumentation companies and designing implants, Dr. Cormier maintains his creative edge not only in Medicine but also in music as a producer. He is soon to complete his book entitled “Challenges”, the story of his life, the journey of his trials and tribulations detailing what he had to overcome to become both the success and role model that he is today. Recognized as one of the top neurosurgeons in the country, Dr. Cormier was named as one of “Americas Top Surgeons,” in the field of Neurosurgery, by the Consumers Research Council of America and Guide to America’s Top Surgeons. Since 2014, he has been listed in the “Leading Physicians of the World” for Neurosurgery, and recognized as an international expert in brain injury and concussion. He has been awarded the Castle Connolly Top Doctor in the field of Neurosurgery, while maintaining a busy neurosurgery practice including complex spine and complex cerebrovascular and Neuro-oncology intracranial surgery. Dr. Cormier is very humbled and proud to be elected the 19th President of the Society of Brain Mapping and Therapeutics.
